Organic light-emitting diode display, also known as organic electroluminescent display or organic light-emitting display, or OLED for short, is a display device made by using carriers in the electric field by the positive and negative electrodes into the organic solid layer compound light-emitting phenomenon.

 

OLED materials, as the foundation and important core of OLED technology, occupy an important position in OLED technology. Higher luminescence lifetime, quantum efficiency, lower cost and more suitable OLED materials for industrial applications have been the goals pursued by researchers and application manufacturers.


 

In the last 10 years, OLED technology has made significant progress, from 5cm products to 107cm OLED samples have been introduced one after another. Compared with LCD, OLED has the characteristics of all-solid-state, self-luminous, wide viewing angle, high definition, high brightness, high contrast ratio, high response speed, ultra-thin, low cost, low power consumption, low temperature resistance, shock resistance, soft display and double-sided display, etc. It is considered the most ideal and promising next-generation flat panel display technology.

 

OLED according to the different organic light-emitting materials used can be divided into two types: one is based on small-molecule organic light-emitting materials of small-molecule OLED, the other is based on conjugated polymer organic light-emitting materials of polymer OLED (referred to as PLED). Kodak and Cambridge (CDT) are the leaders of small-molecule OLEDs and polymer OLEDs respectively.

 

The preparation technology of small molecule OLED mainly adopts the method of vacuum vapor deposition, and the technology is more mature. the preparation technology of PLED mainly adopts spin coating, ink jet printing, etc. This preparation technology has the potential to greatly reduce the production cost of the device, but the technology is not mature enough.
